I follow Miss Wondersmith’s blog, support her on Patreon, and always look forward to her contributions in Enchanted Living Magazine. In an age when many creative people are that accessible, sometimes books can be a letdown, feeling like a rehash of their other material. That was not the case here at all.
In her other works, Miss Wondersmith shows her qualifications through enchanting and aesthetic recipes, glimpses of her fairytale gatherings, foraging advice, and crafting ideas. In this book, she gives us a peek inside of her planning methods for her beautiful gatherings.
She provides a structure in which to work, and plenty of concrete examples for each step, but leaves plenty of room for the reader’s own creative expression and self-expansion.
The book is full of beautiful photographs, handwritten notes and charts, and typed passages, all structured as Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey and peppered with inspiring quotes from many of my favorite authors. This is a book you’ll want to first read cover to cover, and then keep and refer to every time you plan a gathering of any size and style.
This book is for anyone who wants to introduce more whimsy into their lives or learn to throw wonderful events, but would be an especially powerful tool for anyone in the event planning business, anyone who hosts a lot of parties or gatherings, or anyone in a leadership position who wants to develop a unique way of guiding people.
I received a free advance digital copy of this book in exchange for my unbiased review.
